Hitchin Post

General Meeting

 

Joel called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm

There were 22 attendees (see attached)

 

Joel Munson opened the meeting with a welcome to all.

Sandy Chapin read minutes from the last meeting.

Barb Hendrickson made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Gary Smith second it and they were accepted as read.

 

Barb read the treasurers report and stated that we currently have 112 members. Dick Knapp made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read and Mark Rhodes second it and they were accepted as read. (See attached)

 

Old business reviewed by Joel.

  • Snow-Bash to be held at Bowman Lake State Park. Three dealers will be there showing Yamaha, Ski-doo and Artic Cat.  They would like volunteers from each club to help between 10-4 for food sales and parking. See Joel to volunteer.
  • Logo gear can be purchased through Danielle Smith as well as 50/50 tickets.

 

Mark Rhodes talked about and there trails East and West.

Mark explained the progress being made on the east end. Bridges built, trails cleared and future plans for the section.

Joel thanked people for donated materials and equipment. Bill Martin, Pomeroy Lumber, Doug Weiss, and all others. Then asked for others to also donate their time, material or equipment to keep things going.

 

Joel talked briefly on the need for another groomer/utility sled.

 

Joel reviewed the current fundraisers – State raffle tickets, Logo Merchandise and maps.

 

Mark Rhodes discussed different ideas for club events to include rides that include various levels of riding (easy, moderate and difficult/long), riding to the snow bash, ride to Coventry for breakfast at the fire house, a poker run, ride to neighboring snow club areas DOCS, Whitney Point and PA, Ride to a location and have a bon-fire and hot dogs, Venison Dinner, and a house hop.

 

Joel discussed the need to have two sets of groomers so that we can groom in pairs.

He also stated that we need a grooming policy in writing and that we are in the process of having one written.

 

Joel announced that there will be a Board of Directors meeting in 2 weeks at the Hitchin Post at 7 pm.

 

We discussed Internet ads and contracts and how much it costs to have the website. We purchase a domain name that is just BCSNORIDERS.COM. Dick made a motion that we get our own domain name, Ron Knox second it and it passed unanimously.

 

The 50/50 amount was $21/$21.

 

Sandy will run an ad in the Penny Saver the first week in December. Sandy reviewed the Grant in Aide standings and we are at approximately $8,000 so far. Joel reviewed how the Grant in Aide program works.

 

The floor was opened up for discussions and questions.

 

Question asked was “what can we do if a landowner has an issue?” “Can we rent?” Response was that we need to sit down with landowner and find out the issues and that we should not rent land.

 

Joel encouraged all to go out and look at the progress made on the trails. Signing was also mentioned and that we probably will need to spend at least $1,500 on signs.
